What Codega ?!
From the greek word “odegos” (guide) in Venice, was the name given to the man ‘bringer of light’ after a law of 1450 had been imposed on the citizens using a light for those who revolved in the city at night.
Similarly, in Milan, in the eighteenth century, 'codega’ was used for those who preceded travelers equipped with lanterns in the dark.
